Well, why don't you just keep asking for a new image until the status changes to OK?

But I have another related problem. don't really care if the thumbnail is current, or at least I don't want the default image to show if there is a cached version available on my server already. I would rather have an old screenshot than the defalt image. Does anyone have code to do this in the cache file.

Ps: I'm using a branched version of the caching script

My host (positive internet) has informed me that the code 'should' run on their server. They have asked me to ask you if there is any possibility that you are blocking access from their 'truth' server (?)

My problem.
I moved the code to another site of mine and ran it there with no problems. Looks like my original site's host don't know what they're talking about. Unless it's a problem with different versions of PHP. Doubtful.

Hi there!
First of thanks for a great service. I recently came in touch with the PHP class used for accessing the api and cache images locally. Wasn't pleased with the configuration method so I did in my opinion some improvements. The code is available over at GitHub. Give me your thoughts!

Hi Rick,

you can use a modification of our little PHP script to local cache pictures.
So instead of flush the cache, you can modify the script to store the picture somewhere else on your server.

Regards
Alex

I'm interesting in using thumbalizr to archive the
appearance of web sites that might have disappeared. as a result,
I don't want thumbalizr to revisit a web site to refresh the
thumbnail -- i'd like it to be constructed, and kept permanently.

How do I control that?
Thanks a lot,
Rick

Hello,

i've got a question about the API.
i want my webapplication to request an image while using the API.
The requested image should then be saved in a folder on the server.

While using the your index-code (status = OK || status = LOCAL) this is no problem.
The problem is that often, generating an image takes some time and therefore status = QUEUE.
Array ( [URL] => http://www.etcetcetc.com [Generated] => Thu, 11 Dec 2008 21:58:51 GMT [Status] => QUEUED )
At this point, the image isn't created in the cache dir and therefor can't be saved.

Can you give me some advice how to handle the QUEUE and save the image some time later?

Hi Alex,

I would just to briefly know how to use or configure it. Usually I found comments in the script, something like "// set here your email.." but here I don't know how to begin.
Should I launch the index.php from the browser..? And then?

I don't wanna bother you, but should be helpful not only for me to spend some word about the usage of this script. However I'll send you a mail too...
Thank you

Giuseppe

currently, there's no documentation for the script ... it's still in 'beta' ;-)

If there's any question about, please send an email and I'll check this.
