Hi Nick,

api processing doesn't support realtime requests. All requests are queued.
The only thing you can do to aviod the queued picture is to program the exeption locally. (e.g. place the image in a DIV and poll for status via ajax ... and show the DIV once the status is OK).

If you require realtime-requests, we can think about a special "online" version like the one on our website. Please let me know your requirements (simultaneous requests, requests per month) via email (info at thumbalizr (dot.) com ) and we'll check for a solution and pricing.

Best Regards
Alex

I don't think I expressed my question clearly enough. Caching locally is something we can do easily enough. However, when we request an image that has NEVER been requested before (i.e., we wouldn't have a local cache of it yet), we're getting thumbnail that says "Picture Queued." In the paid version, will that "Pictured Queued" thumbnail go away and our screenshot get served up immediately, or will we still get the "Picture Queued" thumbnail until our screenshot has been generated?

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

please check our PHP script for locally caching images (under "api & tools" after logging in). I think this will fit your request. You can decide to show a queued picture or anything else.

You can try this script also with the free api version.

For more details, please write to info at thumbalizr dot com

Regards
Alex

We're looking for a website thumbnail API to integrate into our code for the purpose of taking snapshots of our website at certain times. We are willing to pay for the "Gold" subscription (19.99€), but we want to make sure it's going to work like we need it to BEFORE we start paying for it.

After registering for the Free API Key, the first request I tried was:

http://api.thumbalizr.com/?api_key=[mykey]&width=300&url=http://www.bondware.com

I immediately got "Picture Queued" thumbnail. This is all well and good for the free service. However, if we get the paid service (more specifically, the Gold subscription), the image will show up immediately, right? In other words, I won't get an intermediate "Picture Queued" thumbnail and instead the connection will wait until it has a thumbnail to respond with.

Is this how it will work? If we're going to get the intermediate "Picture Queued" thumbnail even when we're paying for it, then it's not something we can use.

Thanks,

Nick Williams
